The 2008 Detroit Auto Show came just in time for MINI to show off their Clubman before it goes on sale in the US on the 19th of February. The new MINI Clubman has MINI DNA all over it but, at the same time, incorporates unique redesign. The Clubman also featured full integration for the Apple iPhone into the car’s control system. If the MINI is fitted with a navigation system, the joystick serves to conveniently control the iPhone’s telephone and audio functions.

Key design aspects to the MINI Clubman are its unprecedented split door at the rear which is made of up two door panels hinged right at the outside and opening up sideways to a wide angle and the Clubdoor that is located on the right-hand of the car and hinged at the back which offers access to the surprisingly roomy backseat.

The MINI Clubman offers new opportunities while also retaining the qualities so typical of the Brand. In particular, this means the car’s incomparably agile handling, the MINI Clubman - like all the other models in the range - guaranteeing a unique standard of driving pleasure based, first, on suspension technology unusually demanding in the small car segment and, second, on the car’s truly powerful, high-torque but exceptionally efficient power units.

The MINI Cooper Clubman is powered by a 1.6L four-cylinder, 120 horsepower engine. 0-62 is just shy of 10 seconds, squeaking by at 9.8, but makes up for the sluggish start with fantastic average fuel consumption at 42.6 mpg. For a little more speed, upgrade to the MINI Cooper S Clubman and you’ll do 0-62 in 7.6 seconds with the four-cylinder 175 horsepower engine with a twin-scroll turbocharger and direct fuel injection that still gets a decent 37.2 mpg.

Video: Nissan’s 2007 Sentra SE-R Spec V… Road Test at the Racetrack!

Anyone can bring you a road test of the all-new Nissan Sentra SE-R Spec V but a proper test of this great racer is done at a racetrack! We push the Spec V to its limits on the road course at Homestead Miami Raceway. But, we didn’t use the road course that is open for your normal weekend track day we used the road course that included turns 3 and 4 of the Nascar Oval.

Testing a car like this on an oval and road course meant that we had the chance to experience repeated high-speed stops, S curves, high-speed stability, and a little extra fun to boot! After all this is a Nissan Sentra Spec V, the same car that’s been tested at the Nurburgring and at International circuits all over the world. This isn’t your Mom’s minivan.

In addition to some great seat-of-the-pants impressions of the 2007 Sentra, we give you up close views of the new 12 1/2 inch front rotors and brakes, a few suspension shots, and views of the rear cross brace built into the Spec V.

Here’s a short clip of Roadfly staffers burning some rubber at the press launch of the 2007 Sentra SE-R Spec V at Homestead Miami Speedway in Florida. With 200 horsepower, this little guy can smoke the front tires like a highly-tuned import drag racer. As you’ll see, handling is pretty darn good as well! Don’t try this at home, kids…you’re watching semi-professional idiots on a closed course.

MINI debuted the new 2007 MINI Cooper S Sidewalk. The new MINI has been completely redesigned but the classic MINI design remains intact. MINI has chose to coin a new phrase for a convertible. Rather than going with Cabriolet, Convertible, Drop-top, etc… they’re calling their rag-top the Sidewalk.

Video: MINI Unveils New 2007 MINI Cooper S at NAIAS

MINI unveiled the all new second generation MINI. Visually the cars haven’t changed that much but in fact there are numerous design enhancements. A wide range of engine, transmission, chassis and steering innovations give the all-new MINI an impressive level of sportiness and agility.

Boasting brand-new, aluminum-alloy four-cylinder engines with increased power and performance, the new MINI hardtops make a strong statement as they enter the North American market. The 1.6-liter naturally aspirated four-cylinder engine in the MINI Cooper develops a maximum of 118 horsepower and 114 foot-pounds of torque at 4,250 rpm. This propels the car to 60 mph in 8.5 seconds, reaching a top speed of 126 mph.

The new MINI Cooper S is powered by a 1.6-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine that provides 172 horsepower and 177 foot-pounds of torque in a range from 1,600 to 5,000 rpm. The Cooper S reaches 60 mph in 6.7 seconds and has a top speed of 139 mph.
